How To Make A Good Burger

Forget bout Mc D’s or Burger King; it ain’t nuttin compared to the burger you can make yourself at home, and it’s not that difficult either. Still, I have to confess that when it comes to convenience you can’t beat that invention called “drive-thru”. hehe. But if you have the time, this is how you should do it.
First you need to go get yourself a good minced meat. You can ask your butcher as to what kind of minced meat that they offer. Try to get sirloin, chuck or one with some fat in it. The reason for this is that the fat will not only make it taste better but it also will gives the burger its texture and avoiding it from shrinkage during grilling. The ratio of 80 meat and 20 fat are usually the standard to follow.
Next is to mix the minced meat with some flavor like onion powder( don’t have to if you don’t have it), salt, black pepper and thatsit. Other people will put like a lot of other ingredients in but I just prefer it kinda plain coz the patty itself is the star. I once saw a documentry in a food channel about the history of burger and they were showing a place somewhere in Mass. US where they started the “real Burger” and man, even ketchup is not allowed. That is some serious s**t.
Ok, then what you do is to make a patty out of it. Trick is to not to play wit the meat too much becoz it’ll will break up when you grill it. Just mold the meat to get to the shape of a patty and it doesnt really have to be perfect either. As long as it is round and depends on how big you want it. Next just grill the burger and you’re half way there. I myself prefer it medium; kinda reddish in the middle. One thing to remember tho, is to not press on the burger while you’re grilling it coz you don’t want to let the juice out from the meat .
As for the buns, you can either toast it or just grill it. Then spread it with a generous amount of mayonaise and top it with the burger, some lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and you got yourself a meal.
